Willow Hall: dive into the universe of Cecile Guillot and Mina M
Willow Hall is a graphic novel written by the talented Cecile Guillot and illustrated by the incredible Mina M. It was released on November 1, published by Black Cat in Graphicat collection. This is a work that blends dark and gorgeous illustrations to letters written by a woman who has to take care of a child in the mysterious remains of Willow Hall. Soon, the girl will realize that the child, like the building, are very strange ...
Willow Hall is one of his books objects that are rarely encountered but we want to keep it in its original state as long as possible. A little gem that we jealously guard and that it continues to admire, like Gollum and his precious cheap rings ...
1907 Emily Perkins was hired for one year as a governess in Willow Hall before marrying Dorian Oakwood. We follow the story of Emily through the letters she wrote to Dorian for the manor. On every page, we discover a little history of the girl and the mysterious girl that she keeps, all sublimely illustrated. Every day, Emily learns more about the secrets of Lorena and enters a universe made of darkness, despair and wonder.
I found Cecile Guillot with her daughter Hecate saga and I immediately appreciated his writing style. Here, even if the format changes a little, we find what we like about this author: in a few lines, she manages to make the bewitching mysterious book. With the short biography early in the book, yet we understand more that choice to lead us into a story where the child is deleted, as in his own world. Cécile mixing the real and the imaginary brilliantly to reach even more readers.
I know Mina M thanks to covers that it has already made and I must say, once again, that his illustrations are simply amazing! They emphasize the mixture of fascination and darkness to this work. The plane mystery and the reader is taken in this captivating dream world from the first page. I have rarely seen such bewitching illustrations, they snatch us and lead us strength in the darkness of Willow Hall.
In summary, Willow Hall is a fascinating work that will appeal to everyone. The duo Cécile Guillot / M Mina complemented perfectly and delivers us a surprising artbook. Only negative point: it is a bit short and we want more!
